$1.1Billion California Adventure Makeover
As you may know, Disney’s California Adventure is undergoing a $1.1 Billion makeover. Most Disney fans are excited about the makeover’s biggest attraction – Radiator Springs Racers.
The attraction is based on the animated “Cars” movie. This indoor-outdoor attraction combines a calm and leisurely dark ride prelude coupled with a dueling side-by-side race car finale. Probably a bit like Test Track at Epcot.
Rumors and press realeases comfirm the attraction will include virtually all of the classic Disney ride components: theme, technology, animatronics, special effects, interactivity, story line and thrills. The ride begins with a race briefing from the movie’s star, Lightning McQueen – no doubt a creative way to help guests wait for the actual ride whil still enjoying the Disney experience. The attraction apparently ends at the Wheel Well Motel (you may rememeber from the movie.)
Beginning construction in late 2009, the Radiator Springs Racers thrill ride will serve as the anchor attraction for the new 12-acre Cars Land being carved out of the existing Timon parking lot. One very cool attraction in exchange for a parking lot – sounds fair to me!
Unfortunately there are no Disney Vacation Club resorts at Disneyland – but members can use their points to stay on Disney property.
